Self-harm means any behaviour which involves the deliberate causing of pain or injury to oneself, usually as an extreme way of trying to cope with distressing or painful feelings.
Experiencing stress is part of being alive. A small amount of stress, such meeting a challenge or deadline can actually be helpful. It can lead to increased alertness, energy and productivity.
Feelings of despair and hopelessness are common in a young person with anxiety and depression. If you feel isolated and alone and have thoughts of suicide, then you need to let someone know.
