Science is mandatory for all students from Kindergarten to Year 10.

At Killara, students develop their skills and understanding in explaining and making sense of the biological, physical and technological world. Through applying scientific processes, students grow to understand the importance of scientific evidence, enabling them to act as independent thinkers and make informed decisions about the influence of science and technology in their lives.

Students engage individually and collaboratively in scientific inquiry. They learn to communicate and apply their understanding of scientific concepts to plan and conduct investigations by identifying questions, making predictions and analysing data to form evidence-based conclusions.

In Years 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to study multiple science courses. These include:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Earth and Environmental Science
  • Extension Science (Year 12 only)
  • Investigating Science
  • Physics
