Our extra-curricular highlights
Duke of Edinburgh International Award - Australia
Killara High School is a registered Award Centre of The Duke of Edinburgh Framework that is open to all students in Year 9 and above. All Registered Users are supported by a network of adult Duke of Ed Award Leaders, assessors, supervisors, and mentors.
Duke of Ed is a flexible, interesting and fun-packed way for Registered Users to participate in several activities over a set length of time. It is entirely voluntary and structured so Users can design their own unique program, centred on their interests and passions. Users organise and participate in activities of their choice and many already participate in activities eligible for the program.
For more information about Duke of Ed, please review the
Duke of Edinburgh Award Handbook, or your student can speak with a member of KHS Duke of Edinburgh team.
Award Coordinator - Mrs Jennifer Downes
Award Leader - Mrs Laura Watson
Requirements of the Award
Killara High School students in Year 9 will start with the Bronze Level. Once they have completed the Bronze Level, they can, if they choose, progress to the Silver Level and then the Gold Level.
Each activity requires a regular commitment, not just an intense project over a few days, spanning 13 to 52 weeks depending on the Level they are completing.
Why join the DofE program at KHS?
The Duke of Ed Framework is a fun opportunity to challenge yourself and take on new adventures while improving academic performance and mental health.
