Following from the induction of Student Leaders for the 2012-13 which occurred on 23rd August 2012 elections of executive office bearers is currently in process to enable the formation of the Senior Leadership Council. This peak group is an overarching council with representatives from the other 5 groups called the SENIOR LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (SLC).
This structure caters for student interests and talents and provides many leadership and participation opportunities for students while bringing the leadership groups together.
Representatives from each of these groups sit on the SLC:
Arts Council – Two Captains
Prefects – Senior Prefects
Social Justice Committee (SJC)
– President and Vice President
Sports Council – Two Captains
Student Representative Council (SRC)
– President and Vice President
The SLC meets twice each term. The Leaders of the SLC are the school Captains.
The School Captains are elected from Year 11 members of any Leadership group within the school. The selection takes place by nomination and subsequent interview of all nominees by a panel comprising Principal, Year Adviser and Captains of previous year to produce a short list of no more than six students. Nominees will be required to present a two minute presentation of why they have the capacity to be a school captain and how they would approach and undertake the role. Election of the school captains will be by vote of the Year 11 students from all leadership groups and associated staff plus year advisers and executive staff responsible for the year including the Principal.
The Senior Leaders Induction Ceremony will take place early in Term 4. Parents/carers of students elected to the SLC will be invited to this event via email once the election process is finalised.
